Thelma Mae (Simpson) Hay

Tennyson, IN. - Thelma, or “Toots,” as she was known to family and close friends, passed away on Sunday, April 08, 2018, to join her husband of 65 years, George, in eternal rest. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Nellie (Bradshaw) Simpson; brothers, James Simpson, Edward Simpson; and sisters, Marjorie Ingram, Ruth Simpson, and Mary Alice Blackford.
She is survived by daughters, Shirley Hay and Shiela Hay-Reynolds; granddaughter Michelle Hay; brothers, Brown “Eugene” Simpson and Donald Lloyd Simpson; and many nieces and nephews.
Toots was a graduate of Lynnville High School. She worked as a seamstress in “the underwear factory” and from her home for friends and neighbors for many years. She enjoyed church and social gatherings and was known for her fried chicken and chicken and dumplings.
Services will be 10 A.M. on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at the Koehler Funeral Home in Boonville, Indiana with Pastor Scott Westerman officiating. Burial will be at Lynnville Cemetery in Lynnville, Indiana.
Visitation will be from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at the funeral home and from 9 A.M. until the time of service on Thursday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Barren Fork Church in Folsomville, Indiana.
